Your Most difficult Decision

Birthday Celebration at Rose Lodge Care HomeCaring for someone with dementia yourself can be tiring and often very distressing. Coping with someone whom you have known and loved for years but who now may often fail to recognise you can be desperately upsetting and difficult to deal with.

Add to that the need for constant supervision and having to deal with side effects like incontinence and it's easy to feel overwhelmed.

So, moving into a home like Rose Lodge is the perfect way for you to give your loved one the best possible quality of life. Our expert staff can take the time needed to understand their individual needs and the unique view of the world that they experience.

The home is laid out and decorated specifically to make life for those living with dementia, easier and clearer. For example, the special carpet and navigation signs help make moving around and recognition much easier. This is especially important as confusion & disorientation is a major source of agitation for people with the condition.

Fun & Engaging Activities

Your loved one will no longer be experiencing the world in the way that you do. Connections between objects and actions that we all take for granted can easily become a major source of puzzlement and frustration when you have dementia.

Therefore, to keep their life as engaging and fulfilling as possible, we try to 'see inside the bubble' and discover activities that are meaningful to them, bring them joy and happiness and promote their independence.

One such activity that is universally loved is our weekly
choir. Here we all sing along to old songs of the wartime
Sing Along Time Is  Great Fun for Everone                 era of the 40's and 50's and have a great time. This is
especially therapeutic as virtually everyone retains the
ability to remember songs and singing releases the endorphins that make us happy.

Great Facilities To Enjoy

At Rose Lodge living with dementia does not have to mean doing with out your comforts.

The home is located in the delightful seaside town of Exmouth and has ample room for 25 residents in 23 well appointed and decorated rooms.

We'd love you to bring your own personal mementoes, treasures and small items of furniture to make you feel truly at home.

Keeping in contact is important so you can have your own telephone installed in your room if required. The home has a TV in the living room and you are welcome to bring your own with you to view in your room.

The building itself is full of character and is set in its own secluded and secure grounds               Why Not Sit In The Sun And Enjoy The Garden
in a quiet residential
 area.

The garden has a terrace area where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine or read and relax. You can also have fun watching the frequent visits from our friendly local squirrels and birds who come to feed from the bird tables and feeders, or enjoy the raised flower beds and do some gardening yourself.

Inside there is a large spacious living room where you can join in with the community                     and chat with friends. Or if you prefer to be alone a smaller living room is available where you can sit and relax and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Caring And Compassionate Staff

It takes a special kind of person to dedicate yourself to the care and wellbeing of others. We are extremely proud of the commitment and compassion our staff demonstrate on a daily basis.

We train all our staff to the necessary NVQ levels, but we aren't content to rest on our laurels. In late 2009

Always Somewhere Peaceful And Quiet                    our standards of care were assessed as 'good'

This includes the introduction of a new four-day Person Centred Care training programme for all staff and specialist Dementia Care Mapping Technique training for selected care staff members.

What To Do Now

We can offer your loved one a physical and social environment that is specifically designed for living with dementia and which is beyond the means for most people to provide at home.
